We did this once for Vaun. When we all thought he was Quinlan, and now that it's be confirmed that Q. Has man parts. I want to ask the same question for Vaun now.

I will get this baby started! I believe Vaun has man parts! I say this is. One he was meant to be the original Quinlan, and obliviously they were planning to give him man parts.

Two is the noes knows! All strigoi even elevated ones like Eichorst. Lose their noses when they become vamps! Even with all the surgery that Eichorst when under to make himself look more human. The doctor clearly couldn't rebuild a lost noes. Even if Eichorst found if again.  Another is way would The Ancients want him to have one. If Vaun was meant to just be a hunter and not a face for The Ancients. There would have never been a need for extra human pieces.

Three. Is the Writers. Del Toro whom every made this crazy mix up. Has got to give Vaun man part. They know how much we love our strigoi hunter bad asses to have man parts and this is the smallest thing they can do for us. After what they did to us.

What do you think. I want to hear your thought on the subject.

haha, XD its still the ACTOR who says Q has a 'willy', not sure if it's any of the writers' intent (not to say that I care about everything being 'canon' in the strain) but still....seems like an opinion. Which I'll personally take w/ a grain of salt.

One of the things about the vampires of this series that intrigued me the most was the concept that they have a different genetic construction entirely. I've almost NEVER seen this explored in a vampire series. Usually you will find this kind of thing in a zombie apocalypse story; all scienc-y/biologial over 'how is this happening?', but not vamp stuff (though this series clearly combines these tropes so it makes sense). The point is I see the vampires here as their own being entirely, another step on the evolutionary scale....but Q may be different.

As far as we've seen w/ Q in the SHOW, he seemed to fit in fairly well with humans (even has a few human lackies in present day), while book Quinlan commented on how he had trouble relating w/ humans on multiple levels. Even book Q wasn't seen around humans in the beginning unlike Show Q who hung out w/ Eve and those other two guys who flew the plane?? Am I correct? As much as I love Eve, its a big difference. To me, it makes more sense for Quinlan to feel more like he cannot quite relate to humans (especially as he wasn't sure he loved his own wife the way a human would), but has found balance within himself/identity over time.

IDK I'm rambling now haha.... I guess my point is I like the idea of these vampires still identifying with whatever gender they feel closest to, while their physical selves may/may not fit w/ what we know of human anatomy? Perhaps as an idea? Do they even have butt holes with this logic?? Maybe not.

For example, lets say Vaun is just another sentient vamp of the ancients while Q is truly born. Sunlight doesn't hurt Q, but it does hurt Vaun. Clearly that is a physical difference between the two (and the eyes i guess?) so maybe there are more differences...but im not sure what? Not really a headcanon person XD sorry!

Oddly enough, Q's actor did think Vaun DIDN'T have a 'willy' (what a weird word to use for it yeesh), which I agree with as stated similarly above. LOL call me a hypocrite I guess XD since I do agree w/ him there...idk...sorry if I'm not making any sense.... maybe im over thinking it or getting things wrong... but gender in any discussion even about fictional vampires is pretty difficult. But interesting! Love hearing new perspectives! However, even as a vaun fangirl, I prefer the canon of what we DO know about vampire anatomy in this series to equate w/ Vaun over some convenient headcanon for our own 'fun'.

LOL, not that i'll accept Eph as the main character in canon...but hey...there's all kinds of fun.

[strike](Also hey there's always other ways to write/draw about doing the dirty w/ vaun! if that's what we're worrying about in this thread lol XD get creative fandom!)[/strike]

Yes vampires have butt holes.

I honestly don't know what the writers think. They stopped making since to me. A long time ago. I bought up the topic. For conversational prepossess, and to figure out the biology of the vamps. Del Toro's biology to the vamps. Was straight forward and simple. It made since. Until season two. With Vaun and his team clearly not falling under elevated vampires, but I can't say if their borns or not, but it's complicated. In episode 7 of season one. Vaun could stand the sunlight, just like Q. That's is why it's is so confusing on why he could not. In episode 3 of season two. Inconsistency. I blame the writers.

That's an interesting thought. I always felt that Book Q. Come to terms that he was more vampire than human. TV Q. We never see him talk to any of his "people" I think he may see them as just servants, and from what I've seen of TV Q's personality. He seems to look down on humans.

Personal I see Vaun as having man parts. I don't know. I just feel I can relate and have more fun with a male character that way. I just wanted to see if anyone had similar view on the idea. So I wouldn't feel so alone in the fandom. It's pretty lonely in the fandom. When you feel no one share your opines. Sad

But I'm starting to ramble too. Thanks for the input.

Aw I'm sorry you feel alone, but I don't think you're the only one headcanoning that? Coulda sworn I've seen posts by people who prefer them with dicks? Personally I feel alone cause I haven't found many ppl who want to write/talk about vaun or Q w/ the canon vampire anatomy/identity XD. But its all perspective I suppose haha.

You have a REALLY good point about the writers being inconsistent. Which makes these headcanons even more difficult (not to mention the make up is inconsistent too which makes drawing them hard ugh).

Definitely agree that TV Q relates way more w/ humans while Book Q relates more to vampires (perhaps distantly to humans too. always thought his time hanging out w/ gus in the book/comic was sorta him reconnecting w/ his human side. curious to see how TV Q interacts/learns from Gus). It is a VERY different direction for sure. Doesn't help that Vaun is ONLY in the tv series, so he really has no comparison other than being more like the book version of Q.

VampireEater, you are not alone in the headcannon thing...i do have Vaun with man parts and all his sass and softy side too...also he's a born.

actually the headcannon i have going is that every born is different, different tolerances to the usual vampire weaknesses, with Q having those blue eyes only a genetic anomaly among their kind,a symbol of him being the chosen one.but yeah more than the 5 born stated in the books, even females about...even the 4 hunters with Vaun are born too..i have yet to name them all except for thatticus...

the Q in my headcannon,is not as trusting of humans as he is on the show...i think they're making him like this for sympathy to new people coming in to the series...more pathos if you will.

THIS. I feel that there is this weird irony to Q where he feels he is more attuned with his 'barbaric' vamp side- the unfeeling bits, as opposed to what a true human might experience. But I think that there's something really freaking HUMAN in that... we all crave some sort of connection. Vamps simply have it to begin with (as is their nature) but humans have to work for it.

The line frim the comic where Q says it didn't matter if he loved as a human... that's one of my favorites, despite the comic being my least favorite medium.

Yyyyup. Which is precisely why I thought the other vamps had to wear the masks... Vaun could handle that little bit of light.

But I agree, it's like Vaun is more than an Acolyte but less than a Born. Like some in-between (and underdeveloped by the writers) stage..I have to say that in canon I think he's strigoi. Which means no genitals, just the exit hole. ...that's not going to stop me from headcanon-ING otherwise.

Similar here. It's not an exact science, and there are lots of things which could change the way the Born comes out. So every Born has different parts man and strigoi, to me.

So I'm gonna admit something to all of you...

One of the reasons I stalled on my fic is because we were getting to the pivotal moments where we find out what my Q has going on under his BDUs. My headcanon about that is REALLY bizarre. And I got super - as in super duper crawl under a rock and never allow me to see the light again – self-conscious about revealing that to all you lovely, innocent people.

To me, the Born vampire blend of strigoi and human genetics is going to drive a lot of internal physiological differences. The hyper-simplified and specialized stinger-digestive-circulatory system is all they have inside them. Everything is tied into that stinger one way or another. Everything.

In my HC, like Babys, all Borns are different. It depends on when they are infected in the womb. My Q was infected very early on (10-12 weeks gestation) so he's more strigoi than human. An unborn child infected later in pregnancy may be more human that strigoi. Example: My Q has rudimentary lungs. Breathing does provide him with limited oxygen exchange via the small amount of hemoglobin in his blood (which is why it's pinkish, rather than white). That's also why he breathes heavily when he hasn't fed for a while - his body is trying to replenish oxygen in the absence of a blood meal. He's got a bit of a stomach which also allows for absorbing blood meals more slowly, hence why he does not need to feed every day like a standard strigoi. It also gives him the ability to be nauseous and to experience the "sinking pit of the stomach" feeling of anxiety.

He has a limited endocrine system which mostly consists of pituitary, adrenals and gonads. He was visibly male at birth and matured sexually however over time his external appearance has become more strigoi-like.

Most importantly he can do the deed (and very well, may I add) but it takes a brave and trusting lady to handle what that's like. We're dealing with an essentially non-human creature here. It isn't going to be like Twilight or the rest of that crap.

<I'm gonna go find that rock now and crawl under it>

No need! I love your thought on the subject! Their amazing. The biology that when into this is just amazing! The writers could learn a thing or two!
I to have born HC a lot like this. Each born is different, and each born is different depending on when they were infected in the womb.

Bet having a stomach also helps him to not crap where be eats as well...

I'm loving this. So in regards to sexual arousal, with nearly everything revolving around the stinger, does it become stimulated during arousal, or opposite?

"More strigoi" in appearance makes me think of him in a freaking flesh-colored leotard a size and a half too big for him... Razz *Cringing at the memory*

Ha very interesting headcanon GoeticDisciple! everything revolving around the stinger is an idea that i would like to see explored more for sure. I like the whole 'canon' vampire anatomy deal myself, as it makes anyone writing about vaun/quinlan 'doing the dirty' have to think more creatively but yeah.

really cool!

i'm not too crazy about the stinger releasing when aroused bit, because to me its just a biological straw..like no other purpose but for feeding...also i like to think that the vampires mouths - teeth, lips, tongue all useless for other things....

in short,i just picture the regular strigoi - walking stinger worms...

I mean, Born don't have blood worms, so the main thing blood/nutrition would supply would be the brain. Arguably strigoi and ancients may not need a brain, since the parasite is the consciousness. They also may not need a heart because the worms circulate whatever else is in that white plasma stuff.

Born aren't parasitic, though-- least not completely. The fact that they are self-aware in the absence of blood worms is a big human marker, just like the stinger is a big strigoi marker. Somehow the two pieces are able to exist in harmony... but like I said, no blood worms, so how does plasma circulate? Do they have working hearts? We had a discussion similar to this at some point I think...

Very good point on the strigoi not needing a brain since the parasite are consciousness.

I think the heart remains and pumps weakly, as time and again, the strigoi are said to ooze when they are wounded or beheaded. There's something generating pressure in their circulatory systems. Worms alone wouldn't be enough.

Born, in my hc, must have working hearts - otherwise they would have no circulation. I remember we talked about this before with somebody (Q or random strigoi) getting edema in their legs because of low-no blood pressure, haha
