Quinlan's Grand Entrance

it was ok,but not what all the hype was about.....i'm hoping next sunday and the 23rd will change my mind but so far.....i'm stuck in Meh'sville...

still can't believe they traded mr Sass for freakin' vampire Neo...

They better give us Vaun's death wroth! There's no way. I'm going to stick with a show. That killed off a amazing character, just to bring in a mediocre one!

i'm gonna try to give him a shot...i mean i did like quinlan's story (other than him having to put up with his wife's kid..) looking forward to next sundays and 23rd to help change my mind about him...

I don't find him attractive however,just generic looking..i still love vaun for looking so different than the rest.

I know right. I just can't get over how ordinary. This new Q looks. To me. I mean the bone sword looks cool, but the rest of him. Doesn't come at me as original. He still feels too Nomak. To me.

I am going to give him a chance. I hope his personality is great, and I still have hope. That they will bring back Vaun. In the tired season.

The pale blue eyes are offputting. One of the best things about Vaun was his eyes. The scleral contacts looked very real and not fake. The pinpoint pupil effect that comes from the light colored contacts always sends the character straight to uncanny valley hell. You never realize how sensitive your brain is to pupil dilation (and how important it is to show of emotion/expression) until you're looking at someone with pinpoint pupils that never change!

Does appear the show has been reviewed for a third season so...

Maybe they will bring Vaun back. Next season. I am hoping.

When I saw the new pic of Q last night. The first thing that came to my mind. Was "Oh. This is a zombie!"


I feel the art department. Were trying to make new Q. more human, but in trying to do so. They actually made him look less human. He looks dimwitted and more like the living dead, than a mature and intelligent worrier.  
Vaun's eyes were the opposite. Deep. Filled with thought and emotion. More human. Than Q's. 

I'm not hating on Q. I'm just disappointed with the art department.

I was actually wondering about the pupil thing.

I mean human pupils dilate to attempt to compensate for lack of light. Vaun (and other strigoi) have naturally large pupils.. must be part of what helps them see so well in lack of light.

Q doesn't seem to have this.

well i know first hand that i'm sensitive to light whenever they dialate my pupils at the eye doctors...(they have to do this to check my retina)...so I was thinking it must be hell for strigoi with sunlight....

I'm hating....i don't care anymore...his acting better be good....

He's boring. My husband and I were like, "...wait, did he just 'Braveheart' the new human Sun Hunters? Could he have at least let Gus do it, in Gus-speak?"

I understand that there was a decision made based on "We sort of forgot that Vaun's actor was nearly 70 and the role was about to get really physically demanding" but meh. Agreed with the description of him as 'Neo' so far.

i disagree with the age thing still,palmer's actor is a year younger than mchattie,still doing stuff on the show,and setrakian is older,also doing action things as well.

but yeah Quinlan's "action" scenes,could have been done by mchattie - as all he (quinlan) did was stand around,swish the sword in the flashback/vs the spiderkids,and point guns,which we already know mchattie has done before hehehe.

and rupert/quinlan...his voice needs more work,not badass enough as vaun's was...maybe they could have kept mchattie to dub over quinlan...

Too long, fix'd! But it sounds like that's the general consensus. I was expecting amazing screen presence from Quinlan 2.0 and didn't get it; the gamble production/direction/casting took did not pay off. I hope the actor is given a chance to make the character shine in season 3, but the truth of the matter is that I'm working on a drinking game to get me through the hard times.

true! even his makeup is (like vauns) deteriorating...

I don't mind the new Quinlan. Majin and I have discussed his voice- I like it, just wish he had more of a presense.

I also wish he had better action scenes, not cheap whoosh ones.
