Quinlan makeup discussion

he's just not that interesting...tbh reminds me of the guys from Prometheus only not that huge...

Wide-set mouth. Ridges on cheekbones- maybe so he can crack his jaw open to feed? Tiny little (blue) eyes set in a broad face.

I don't think I like the blue eyes. I said on tumblr, I'm just glad they're more dead-looking than a clearer blue.

Also, he has a wattle. Which is not to say that Vaun doesn't either. But this looks like a weird spiraling trach. If he has to plug up the hole to speak, I'm done. :p

I don't mind the trench, but again, I haven't watched all vamp media out there, including Blade.

I dono- i could be more upset. I will wait to see where the actor will take him...

I'm not sure I'm happy with this new Quinlan. He looks like Malekith. From Thor The Dark World and I agree with M. He doesn't look as interesting as Vaun dose. As well as his expression have been very bland.

I'm trying to be upped minded and give this new Quinlan a chance, but this guy is very far from most depiction of Mr. Quinlan.

Honestly, Im very happy with him. I had wet dreams about the Prometheus guys for a looong time after seeing it, now I can go back and think that it was Q ^^

Eh, imo that's just a Quinlan thing. As far as I'm concerned, not much should rattle him. He's no basket of emotion. Time and confidence have shaped him that way.

I find him very bland, a totally uninteresting hybrid between the Kurgan from Highlander plus something from Blade and the Faun from Pan's Labyrinth. I hated the engineers in Prometheus (I like slender guys not big muscle dudes). Just doesn't compare at all to the beautiful, intricate Vaun makeup in S01 Ep7. It's a bad idea to blow your makeup wad on the initial reveal and then downgrade with each subsequent appearance.

Well I know that's he jaded, but he shows even less emotion than Vaun. Whom jaded as hell, but still has a lot of attitude and sass to him. As well as softness too.

It's like he has no personality! Even in the books. Quinlan had humor and some personality.

Eh, I think it's too early to say. After all, those are just screen shots, not necessarily him in action.

I don't expect him to be very talkative at all... from what I remember, he stayed mostly in the background and really only interacted when he needed to. For instance, he stopped Gus from going apesh!t on Eph. At that time his first priority was the mission... after that, he didn't really care who Gus killed.

Yeah..I liked the look of Quinlan at first..then I slept on it..and I don't really like it. It looks too generic. It's like they went to Build A Dhampir and just picked the basic mold.
I WISH he had red eyes. I HATE the blue.
Also, Vaun does a wattle. He just hides it with his collar. The makeup guy said he has. My sweet cinnamon roll just tapes it down as it creeps me out.

Plus the jacket. I hate it. I want him in SWAT gear STAT! I need to check out that ass when he's fighting. Can't do that if it's covered by a friggin jacket. I spend half my time looking at McHottie's hiney. Not gonna lie

LOL...At first I thought the black jacket was Q..then I rewatched it..and was like.."wait,wait a moment"..that's Bolivar..But Q still has a crappy long ass-covering jacket on.
No one *wants* to see Bolivar's goods..he doesn't have any..

So is that up there *points* Bolivar? I have myself all confused. I see the tweed, yeah.

In the promo it looks like Q has a black cotton jacket and a brown woolen like one..
Of course it could just be the same jacket and we have the Strain Crack Lighting Team to thank again for inconsistencies.
Bolivar is rocking the cheesy leather one.

I too agree...there is no contrast with his eyes,as pretty a shade they are just blends with his pale skin....he's gonna be robotic like the GN...with Vaun on his way out better prepare myself for some boredom (when hes not fighting that is)...as mentioned on tumblr,his outfit is too much jared nomak/blade...

just so dissapointed....

BUT, it is just from the promos and we KNOW how horrible McHottie looked in them and he turned out pretty cute. Still not S1, but better than Elevator Madness. (we still have that to come though...)

He had blue eyes in the comic, blue and red.

All the vampires in the comic. Had red and blue eyes. The master, Kelly and the others. I believe thought. That the blue is standing in. To give depth to black irises.

Exactly, it's just a high lighting thing for the artwork...otherwise it would be white..the contacts for the show are pretty bang on IMO. That's why McHottie has such sexy eyes.
New Q has straight up blue contacts. UNLESS it's just the way it's edited again, by the wonderful crack team of Strain Editors.
